Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine

Dr Tom Bendinger is an Anaesthetic and Pain Medicine Consultant trained in South Yorkshire and Midlands. He completed a Pain Medicine fellowship in Sheffield and obtained Fellow of Faculty of Pain Medicine of Royal College of Anaesthetists qualification by the examination in 2015. He also achieved European Diploma in Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine. 

He developed an interest in research and has completed the PhD in Medical University in Poland. Thesis involving investigation of different approaches of anaesthesia/analgesia for total knee replacement. He mainly practices in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals where he is a lead for research in Pain Medicine.  part of Musculoskeletal Academic Department of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. He has published in multiple journals and presented his work at national meetings. He has recently become Regional Advisor in Pain Medicine for Sheffield and North Trent.  

He conducts a research on predictors for successful spinal injections.  He has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed and international journals and has presented at national and international conferences. He is the Honorary Lecturer of Sheffield University and Regional Advisor in Pain Medicine for Sheffield and North Trent. 

He specialises in:

Invasive treatment of back pain, sciatica and neck pain (epidurals, nerve blocks, facet joint injections, sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency ablation) 

 

Invasive treatment of knee pain including genicular nerves of knee blocks and ablation

 

Invasive treatment of shoulder pain

 

Treatment of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and neuropathic pain

 

Conservative treatment of pain syndromes including fibromyalgia

 

Medico- Legal Profile  

Dr Tom Bendinger started my expert witness career in 2018 and can prepare reports in all aspects of chronic pain such as lower back and neck pain including acquired as a consequence of accidents, post-traumatic pain, post-surgical pain, neuropathic pain and complex regional pain syndrome. His reports are compliant with the CPR Part 35 and Practice Direction. He is a member of Pain Expert Limited and his reports are appraised by the Pain Expert Limited panel.
